Carine Crutzen is one of the leading actresses in the Dutch film, TV and theater world. She rose to fame throughout the 1990s through her unforgettable roles in prestigious Dutch television series like De brug (The Bridge, 1990), Het Pleidooi (The Plea, 1993-1995), De Daltons (1999-2000), and Oud Geld (Old Money, 1998-1999). For her terrific performance in the latter, she received a Dutch Academy Award in 1998.



Meanwhile, she received raving reviews for her stage work with famous Dutch theater companies like Hollandia and Het Toneel Speelt. She also starred in commercially and artistically successful feature films such as Abeltje (1998), The Moving True Story of a Woman Ahead of Her Time (Nynke, 2001), Rosenstrasse (2003), and most recently Majesty (2010), in which she played Queen Beatrix to wide acclaim.

Recently, she received a Picture & Sound Award for her terrific performance in the Dutch television series Vuurzee (Sea of Fire, 2009-2010), and a nomination for the prestigious 2011 Theo d'Or for her stage work.



Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen is an emerging young actor who got his big breakthrough when he appeared in the immensely popular teen-oriented drama Afblijven! (Keep Off, 2006). Before that, he had already been Carine Crutzen's son in the television series De Daltons (1999-2000).



The son of the late, renowned Dutch filmmaker Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen (who also directed Carine Crutzen in Oud Geld and Het Pleidooi), he has attended the prestigious Theater Academy in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Meanwhile, he continued to star in many Dutch feature films, such as Bloedbroeders (Blood Brothers, 2009), Het leven uit een dag (Life in One Day, 2009), and Schemer (Dusk, 2010).

Matthijs has found his way to the international stage again, most recently appearing in Richard III by the famous theater company Orkater, and starring in the musical theater show Help! at the Children's Theatre in Seattle, Washington.
